Lawn mowing & grass cutting

Lawn mowing and grass cutting for a thicker, greener, even lawn.

Regular mowing at the right height is the single best thing you can do for a lawn. We mow, edge and strim with sharp, well-maintained equipment and take the clippings away.

Lawn care done properly

Neat stripes are nice. Healthy roots are the real goal.

Cutting grass too short, too rarely or with blunt blades weakens a lawn and lets weeds and moss move in. Our approach follows the one-third rule: never remove more than a third of the leaf in a single cut, so the grass keeps enough leaf to stay green and recover quickly.

Every visit includes a clean mow, crisp edges along beds and paths, careful strimming around trees and obstacles, and a final blow-down of hard surfaces so no clippings are tracked into the house.

Our mowing standards

The details that separate a cut from a well-kept lawn.

These are the standards our crews follow on every lawn, whether it is a small front garden or a large shared green.

Cutting height

Adjusted to grass type, season and shade — typically higher in hot, dry spells to protect the roots.

Blade sharpness

Blades are sharpened regularly so grass is cut cleanly instead of torn, which prevents browning tips.

Edges & borders

Lawn edges are trimmed on every visit and re-cut with a half-moon edger when they lose their shape.

Clippings

Collected and removed as standard, or mulched back into the lawn when conditions suit and you prefer it.

Wet conditions

We avoid mowing waterlogged lawns that would be damaged, and reschedule with you instead.

Overgrown grass

Long grass reclaimed without scalping the lawn.

When grass has been left for weeks or months, cutting it straight down to normal height shocks the plants and leaves bare, yellow patches. We reduce it in stages: a high first cut with a strimmer or heavy-duty mower, a clear-up of debris and hidden obstacles, then a second cut to bring it back to a healthy height.

The result is a usable lawn on the first visit that recovers its colour within a few weeks.

How often to mow

Choosing a mowing frequency that suits your lawn.

Strong growth

Weekly

Best during the main growing period for lawns that see heavy use or need to look immaculate.

Steady growth

Fortnightly

The most popular choice for family gardens — tidy, healthy and good value.

Slow growth

Every 3–4 weeks

Suits cooler or drier periods, shaded lawns and lower-maintenance areas.

Not sure? We will recommend a frequency after seeing your lawn and adjust it as the seasons change.
